4. History of Eberswalde's trolleybus system
In the following the history of the public local passenger traffic and thus the trolleybus
traffic in the city Eberswalde is presented.
The history of the public local passenger traffic and thus in the long run later the
trolleybus traffic in the city
Eberswalde is particularly coined by the following events:
- Connection of Neustadt Eberswalde to the Berlin Stettiner railway in the year 1842
- Transport of the passengers of and to the railway station with horse coaches and also stage coaches as well as the initialization of the first Eberswalder horse coach traffic in the year 1865
- Three-month test operation of the first trolleybus line in Eberswalde in the year 1901
- From 1910 to November 1940 the Eberswalde streetcar operated
- Period from November 1940 with the initialization of a trolleybus network in Eberswalde as
compensation for the shut downed tram up to the end of the Second World War in April 1945
- Maintenance of the trolleybus operation in the post-war period until September 1949
- Trolleybus operation in the German Democratic Republic from October 1949 to 1989
- Trolleybus operation in the reunited Germany from 1990 to 2007
